Let’s keep it real. Carlos was always a pawn. We was supposed to develop more and become a stronger man. Eva was going to be the apple of his eye. And every day he would have made Lidia swoon. Unfortunately, the writers of Cable Girls erased their love (and some of Carlos’s soul).
He regained his integrity when Lidia returned. She will always be the woman of his life. All Carlos wanted was her and Eva’s happiness. The only time Lidia was a coward was when she chose to run away from Carlos. I believe they could have made it work and defeated Dona Carmen together.
Carlos became the loser of almost every situation.
- The lesser of two sons
- the guy who couldn’t get the girl
- the cash cow for the disloyal best friend (ahem, Francisco)
Rest in peace, Carlos Cifuentes. You were so handsome and kind. We aren’t forced to watch you suffer in the plot any longer.
The Carlidia fantasy will forever live on in my head.
The biggest lesson we can take from Carlidia is you need to live for yourself. Carlos would have been a great father. His parents were horrible, especially Dona Carmen, but Carlos was good.
We should all love, but we shouldn’t be a martyr to attract another person. Being wanted is not a reason for us to live and breathe. When you pursue your heart’s desire, follow your gut, or just do that one thing you really want to do… that’s feeding your soul. And it’s living with integrity.
