Love Island s8 e2 Review

It’s all about my favorites for me.  Dami and Amber until the end.  Indiyah and Paige need new boos.  Ikenna is uninvolved.  Tasha has become the hot topic and Liam let himself be forgotten. This episode of Love Island was mostly about Davide’s ego and that he selected Gemma to inflate it for the next week or so.  Read Love Island articles on the blog.   Fans were outraged about the age gap between Davide and Gemma… well, it’s not the first in Love Island history.  For the old heads, you’ll remember these couples.

Last impression: I know no names. I only remember my favs: Amber, Indiyah, Paige.

The twist… was supposed to be who Davide chooses but I think we all knew he was going to choose Gemma.

The couples: Ahem, this was a dead episode for me. Amber and Dami until the end. We only got one scene of them talking and from that crumb I judged. They are the most genuine couple. They’re not forcing the slow burn. It’s natural and shows they’re learning how to be friends before progressing to a more serious relationship. Dami is definitely very jokey and it’s nice to hear him directly say he’s still getting acclimated in the villa. I think a part of the awkwardness is that everyone can clearly see who the top choices are… none of them black folk. Please send some bombshells for my people.

It’s interesting to see how everyone is interacting because the second coupling will be the first time the islanders get to choose their person. It’ll be based more on personality and the extent people were given a chance on a substantial level rather than just looks.

Indiyah and Ikenna are clearly still not attracted to each other. And it is almost cheeky that Indiyah is so bothered about Ikenna not grafting for her. He’s not grafting for anyone. I appreciate the fact that she’s trying to give it a try. And I wish she didn’t feel so rejected, especially while she’s watching others like Tasha and Gemma get lots of attention. Girl, you were put into a bad coupling and frankly, Ikenna has the right idea. Just chill until someone else pops up. I was not surprised to see him kiss Paige in challenge. My bones told me he wanted a white girl.

Paige is so sweet and laidback.  Luca should be giving her more attention. Tasha is a sweet girl too; she seems like the top choice right now. Unfortunately, I think some of the guys get more into the chase than the girl.

My favs Paige, Indiyah, and Amber deserve more.

We saw Tasha get the most kisses in the challenge and she had chats with three guys: Davide, Andrew, and Luca. It’s great that the only full blonde is having fun. Andrew literally tried to mark his territory on her with that kiss. Yuck, however we love to see active competition.

Competition… this is one of the main reasons I think Davide chose Gemma. She is going to give him all the attention he wants. He doesn’t need to worry about losing her and that helps him keep his alpha position.

Tasha is busy with other guys and there’s a bigger chance that she’ll leave Davide before he leaves her. Paige is a bit too mature for Davide because she’s not going to give him all her attention. She is interested in more than infatuation; Paige wants love. I don’t think Davide is very attracted to Indiyah and Amber. That leaves Gemma.

Okay, she has made it clear that she doesn’t want to be with Liam and she hasn’t expressed interest in anyone else except Davide. Davide knows this. Davide, the producers, and the islanders all know he has all the power. He is reveling in that at almost the same level as he revels in a compliment. This man says almost the same thing to every girl during every chat.

Frankly, I don’t think he’s serious about anyone and each time he gives a compliment it’s to receive one. He asks questions to lead others to flatter him. He’s coming across as very self-serving and arrogant. Although Gemma is coy when he asks her compliment baiting questions, that adds to the fun for Davide. He wants some resistance and needs all of the attention. He has Gemma’s undivided attention. Gemma and Gemma alone.

To me, this guy’s chat is boring. Give someone else the screen time.

Liam…got lost. He gave up. My main question is, why is Dami so pressed to show everyone his birthmark?
