You have to give people space to love you.  Francisco was in the way of Lidia loving Carlos.  Carlos tried his best to be patient and kind. He clung to her, supported her, and betrayed her.  Nothing worked in his favor.

You could almost say that nothing in their world allowed them to be together, not even the shared blood of their beautiful daughter Eva.  The writers made us endure over five hours of Carlos suffering on TV until they penned tears down his face as he read Lidia’s goodbye letter. 

Carlos should have been more selfish.  His love for Lidia should have made him more than obsessive.  It should have driven him crazy. He should have put a pillow over Francisco’s face while he was in a coma.  One pillow for a life of love with Lidia is all it would have cost.

In season 5 Carlos may have a new woman in his life.  Hopefully, that makes Lidia jealous enough to want him again. She only seems to think about Carlos, when he’s not available. Giving people enough space to love you means more than loving them the best way you can. It also means to love yourself the best way you know how. If any distance cannot strengthen that love, move on.
